JUDGE DISMISSES DRAKE’S DEFAMATION LAWSUIT AGAINST UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP

Canadian rapper Drake has suffered a legal defeat after a U.S. judge dismissed his defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) over Kendrick Lamar’s hit song Not Like Us. The court ruled that Lamar’s controversial lyrics, which accused Drake and his associates of being “certified pedophiles,” were a form of artistic expression and not actionable defamation.

Offset is opening up about the mistakes that led to the breakdown of his marriage with Cardi B. Speaking on the _Baby, This Is Keke Palmer_ podcast on October 7, the 33-year-old rapper admitted that his actions played a major role in their separation. “I should have respected her way more. I made bad decisions as a man, like stepping out,” he told host Keke Palmer. “Gotta take that on the chin. When she left, I had to take that on the chin. … I was beingselfish, and I can say that as a man.”

Rising music star D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, has recently transferred ownership of two Houston-area homes to his mother as authorities continue investigating the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposing body was found in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to the singer. The deed transfers were executed on September 18 and September 22, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ. The properties were held under the Thorn Rose Trust, a name reminiscent of D4vd’s 2023 EP _Petals to Thorns_.

The timing of the transfers has drawn attention. On September 17, Los Angeles police executed a search warrant at the Hollywood Hills rental home D4vd had been living in. The following day, authorities responded to a swatting incident at one of the Texas homes, where a caller using a voice-disguising device falsely reported a shooting and claimed a woman was dead inside. Police bodycam footage shows D4vd’s parents answered the door and informed officers that his younger brother and sister were also residing in the home. Officers reportedly left after about 20 minutes, concluding the call was a potentially dangerous prank.

Celeste Rivas was reported missing in May 2024 from her Lake Elsinore, California home. The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that Rivas had likely been “dead for several weeks” by the time her body was discovered in the Tesla. Scot M. Williams, commanding officer of the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division, said, “We know that the Tesla had been parked at the location from which it was towed for several weeks,
so it is very likely Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been dead for several weeks prior to her body being discovered.” The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has not yet determined the cause or manner of her death, leaving the question of criminal culpability unresolved.

In the wake of the tragedy, D4vd has cancelled the remaining dates of his U.S. tour and delayed the release of an expanded edition of his album _Withered_. He has not publicly commented on the case. His manager, Josh Marshall, addressed online speculation about his own involvement, writing on TikTok: “how dare you say something like this with no facts. This video is false, and the person is misinformed. This is the only time I’ll speak on this matter. FOR NOW. This has been a tough time for my family as I am a father of 3 children. I received no emails and I’m no one’s roommate, I live full-time at home with my wife and kids.”

While social media has circulated theories about D4vd’s connection to Rivas, no formal charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding how Rivas ended up in the Tesla and her movements prior to her death.
