In a surprising turn for the hip-hop community, Grammy-nominated rapper Fetty Wap was released from federal prison on January 8, 2026, after serving just over three years of his original six-year sentence. The “Trap Queen” artist, born Willie Junior Maxwell II, had been serving his time at FCI Sandstone, a low-security facility in Minnesota, before being transferred to home confinement to complete the remainder of his term.

Three-time Grammy-winning gospel icon and pastor Donnie McClurkin is facing a serious legal battle after a former personal assistant filed a lawsuit accusing him of years of sexual abuse and rape. The complaint, filed in January 2026, in New York County Supreme Court, alleges that the abuse was carried out under the guise of spiritual mentorship and “deliverance” from homosexuality.

R&B singer and entrepreneur Ray J was reportedly rushed to a Las Vegas hospital following a health scare. The 44-year-old artist, born William Ray Norwood Jr., was admitted after experiencing sudden breathing difficulties and intense “heart pains.” According to reports from TMZ and other major outlets, medical professionals have since diagnosed him with a severe case of pneumonia. 

 

The Grammy-winning artist shared the news on X on Monday, Jan. 5, revealing that his next solo project is complete. The announcement comes nearly a decade after Mars last released a full-length solo album, 2016's 24K Magic. Keeping his message simple, the 40-year-old singer wrote that the album was done, instantly sparking excitement across social media.
