Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold has been arrested in Florida in connection with an alleged kidnapping and armed robbery case stemming from an incident earlier this year.

Authorities in Tampa announced that Arnold, 23, was taken into custody on Wednesday after investigators identified him as a central figure in what they described as a targeted robbery involving three young men. The case dates back to February 4.

According to police, the investigation began after valuable items worth more than $250,000 were reportedly stolen from an Airbnb property Arnold had been renting in Largo, Florida, three days before the alleged kidnapping. Investigators say Arnold believed two of the eventual victims were responsible for that theft.

Police allege that Arnold and several associates devised a plan to lure the three men to an apartment in Tampa. Once there, the victims were allegedly assaulted, threatened with firearms and robbed of personal belongings before being forced to leave the property.

Investigators claim the attack involved multiple participants and that some suspects remained in communication throughout the incident. According to the police report, one defendant allegedly livestreamed portions of the encounter to Arnold and two others while they were traveling to the apartment. Authorities also say a group chat was used to exchange instructions during the alleged assault.

The victims later contacted law enforcement and identified those they believed were involved. During the investigation, police determined that the three men were not connected to the earlier Airbnb burglary that had prompted suspicion.

Six individuals were arrested between February and March as part of the investigation. Arnold became the latest person charged after turning himself in to authorities on Wednesday.

He now faces four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery. Prosecutors from the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office have indicated that the charges carry the possibility of a life sentence if a conviction is secured.

Arnold's representatives have strongly denied the allegations. Denise White, chief executive of EAG Sports Management, stated that there is no reliable evidence linking the NFL player to the crimes. She argued that prosecutors are relying heavily on statements from convicted individuals who may have motives to shift responsibility in exchange for more favorable outcomes in their own cases.

White added that Arnold is confident the legal process will ultimately clear his name.

The Detroit Lions also released a brief statement acknowledging the situation. The organization said it is aware of the legal matter involving Arnold but declined further comment while the case remains ongoing.

Arnold has appeared in 24 games for Detroit since being selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
