In a June 29 promotional clip for the newly opened Obama Presidential Center, former first lady Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama revealed that they went to a museum on their first date.
"So take it from us: the Obama Presidential Center campus has just the right vibe for you and your boo," the former first lady's caption reads.
The power couple wed in October 1992, three years after meeting at a Chicago law firm and a first date so memorable it inspired a movie. The pair also shares two daughters, Malia, 27, and Sasha, 25.
When asked if she would've agreed to go on a date at the center, Michelle said: "Oh, this would've been THE date."
"I mean, this would've been like, 'Oh, this dude is cool.' And then, this is a sexy environment, I'm sorry. I mean, this is — this is a date vibe," Michelle said.
Opened to the public on Juneteenth, the Obama Presidential Center is a privately operated, 19-acre campus on Chicago's South Side featuring various amenities, including a city library, a ticketed museum, a cafe and restaurant, as well as community and outdoor spaces.
The grand opening drew Hollywood legends and entertainment's biggest stars, many of whom are friends of the Obamas, as well as former Presidents Joe Biden, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.
A perfect date night for the Obamas looks like fine dining paired with intellectually stimulating conversation.
In a May 19 episode of the "Baby, This is Keke Palmer" podcast, the former first lady opened up about what date nights with her partner are really like.
"A perfect date night is dinner, out, usually a private room, so that we can actually just be here, and no one is walking up," Michelle Obama said, noting that an interruption can make things awkward. "I mean, it's fine for people to walk up, but when you're on your date with your man, it's just sort of like, 'Oh, hey.'
