JANICE DICKSON LEVELS EXPLOVES NEW ALLEGATIONS AGAINST TYRA BANKS

The fallout from the Netflix documentary Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model continues to intensify as the show’s original “first supermodel” judge, Janice Dickinson, has come forward with new claims regarding Tyra Banks. In a candid interview on the Glossy Confessions podcast aired on March 3, 2026, Dickinson described Banks as a “hardcore bitch” whose behavior behind the scenes was far more aggressive than what was shown to viewers.
Dickinson, who served as a judge for the first four cycles of the hit reality competition, alleged that Banks harbored a deep-seated competitiveness that frequently manifested as hostility toward the contestants. Specifically, Dickinson claimed that Banks displayed a troubling pattern of “going harder” on Black contestants. According to Dickinson, this behavior stemmed from a place of “insecurity and professional jealousy,” with Banks allegedly feeling threatened by young Black models who possessed the potential to rival her own legacy in the high-fashion industry.
One of the most harrowing revelations from the interview involved an unedited incidentfrom an early cycle. Dickinson claimed she witnessed Banks “go off” on a young woman with such intensity that the atmosphere on set became physically uncomfortable. “It was verbal assault, plain and simple,” Dickinson stated. “Tyra went off on this girl so bad that I actually felt the urge to jump in. I wanted to hold her down—not to hurt her, but to literally stop the energy of the attack. It was vibrating through the room.”
While the documentary touched on the infamous “WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU” outburst directed at Tiffany Richardson, Dickinson suggests that similar, even more vitriolic incidents were scrubbed by editors to preserve Banks’ “mentorship” persona. Dickinson argued that the show’s environment was designed to break the spirits of the women rather than build them up, with Banks acting as the primary enforcer of a “toxic power dynamic.”
Representatives for Tyra Banks have not yet issued a formal response to Dickinson’s specific claims of jealousy-driven targeting. However, in the Reality Check docuseries,Banks maintained that her “tough love” was a necessary preparation for the brutal reality of the modeling world in the early 2000s. As the push for a 25 th cycle of ANTM continues to face significant public pushback, Dickinson’s testimony adds a layer of firsthand validation to the grievances long held by former contestants.

VIOLA DAVIS DELIVERS POWERFUL, REGAL MESSAGE AT NAACP IMAGE AWARDS: “OUR CROWN IS ALREADY OURS, WE JUST NEED TO WEAR IT

Taking the stage, the 60 year old actress began with humility. “I always feel like I’m going to step into feeling like I deserve it,” she said, reflecting on the honor. Davis then opened up about her childhood, describing herself as a “little chocolate girl with thick lips and wide nose in Rhode Island in 1965” who did not see hope or dreams in her future. She shared that, at the time, she simply wanted to be somebody and believed that success would give her significance.
Davis spoke candidly about the journey from that young girl searching for hope and faith to the woman she is today, living what she called a transcendent life. She described her path as a hero’s journey and emphasized that growth and achievement are rarely accomplished alone. She reminded the audience that there is no single person controlling their destiny and encouraged them to claim ownership of their lives.
The award winning actress, who has achieved EGOT status, also offered words of empowerment that resonated deeply with the crowd. “Our crown
has already been bought and paid for, all we have to do is wear it,” she said, urging listeners to recognize their inherent worth and step confidently into it.
During her remarks, Davis made a point to honor individuals whose contributions often go unnoticed. She praised people working at a food pantry in Central Falls that feeds thousands each month, as well as caregivers supporting her mother, who is living with advanced dementia. Addressing them directly, she said, “You are my hero. I see you. Thank you.”
The NAACP Image Awards, presented by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, celebrate excellence in film, television, theatre, music and literature. Other honorees this year included Colman Domingo, who received the President’s Award, and Salt-N-Pepa and DJ Spinderella, who were inducted into the Hall of Fame. Earlier virtual ceremonies also recognized talents such as Kendrick Lamar, Michelle Obama, SZA and Cardi B.
