Australian police have opened an investigation following serious allegations made by Ruby Rose against pop star Katy Perry, claims that have quickly drawn international attention and firm denials.

Officials from Victoria Police confirmed that detectives are examining what they described as a “historical sexual assault” reported to have taken place in Melbourne in 2010. Authorities noted the alleged incident occurred at a licensed venue within the city’s central business district, adding that inquiries remain ongoing and further comment is limited at this stage.

Rose, 40, alleged in a series of social media posts that the incident took place at the now-closed Spice Market nightclub during her early career years. She claimed she has since submitted formal reports and supporting material to investigators, signaling a shift from public statements to a legal process.

In a follow-up message, the actress explained she would no longer discuss the matter publicly, citing standard police procedure. She described the decision as both necessary and relieving, suggesting it allows space for personal healing while authorities handle the case.

Perry, 41, has strongly denied the allegations through a representative, who characterized the claims as “categorically false” and “reckless.” The statement further asserted that similar accusations made publicly in the past have been disputed, urging caution around
unverified narratives circulating online.

The situation has ignited widespread debate across social media, with supporters and skeptics weighing in as details remain limited. Despite the heightened attention, investigators have not publicly named any individuals connected to the case, maintaining a measured approach as they assess the information provided.

The development underscores the complexities surrounding historical allegations, particularly when they involve high-profile figures and events said to have occurred years earlier.

As the investigation continues, both parties appear to be stepping back from public commentary, leaving the next phase of the matter firmly in the hands of authorities.
