However, following the documentary’s release, Odom publicly challenged parts of Kardashian’s account. He disputed claims involving statements made about his father and suggested that his recovery was primarily due to faith rather than outside help. He also expressed disagreement with how certain events were portrayed.
On her podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, Kardashian responded to the backlash, saying she felt frustrated and misled after agreeing to participate in what she believed would be a respectful project. She explained that she initially hesitated to take part, but ultimately agreed after being told the documentary would be positive and centered on Odom’s perspective.
She said she only participated after being repeatedly assured that her involvement was necessary to complete the project. Kardashian emphasized that she was not paid for her appearance and had no personal benefit from the documentary being made. She added that she took part at Odom’s request and spent significant time sharing her experience.
Kardashian also expressed disappointment over what she described as a shift in Odom’s public tone after the release. She said she felt hurt by his comments, which she interpreted as questioning her honesty and minimizing her role during a critical period in his life. She stated that she had already moved on from revisiting that chapter of her life and did not expect to return to it again.
She further explained that revisiting the past was emotionally difficult and something she had previously chosen to keep private for many years. Kardashian said she agreed to speak publicly only because she believed it would contribute to a respectful and meaningful portrayal of Odom’s story.
Now, she says she feels conflicted about having participated, especially as she believes the narrative has shifted after the documentary’s release. Representatives for Odom and Netflix have not publicly responded to her remarks.
