Singer and actress Chlöe Bailey is facing a wave of online backlash following her enthusiastic attendance at Ye’s (formerly Kanye West) comeback concert at SoFi Stadium. The 27-year-old “Have Mercy” artist sparked a heated debate among fans after sharing several videos from the show to her Instagram Stories, describing the performance as “legendary” and “so inspired.”

The concert marked Ye’s first major U.S. headlining appearance since 2021, a period\MNduring which he has been widely condemned for a string of antisemitic remarks and praise for Nazi ideology. Despite Ye recently purchasing a full-page apology advertisement in The Wall Street Journal, many critics argued that Bailey’s public celebration of the artist signaled an “indifference” to his history of hate speech. “Chloe baby… put the phone down,” one viral post on X (formerly Twitter) read, echoing a sentiment shared by thousands of users who expressed disappointment in her choice to align herself with the controversial figure. Others drew parallels to the backlash she received in 2023 for her collaboration with Chris Brown, suggesting a recurring pattern of Bailey supporting artists with problematic reputations.

The controversy also touched on Bailey’s professional ties. On Reddit and TikTok, some fans characterized her attendance as a “betrayal” of her mentor, Beyoncé, noting that Ye has frequently disparaged the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer and her family in the past. “It’s frustrating to see the grace they were given by Beyoncé met with this kind of indifference toward the people Ye has hurt,” one fan wrote in a locked thread on the  Beyonce subreddit.

The timing of the backlash is particularly sensitive as Ye prepares to headline the Wireless Festival in London this July. That booking has already drawn condemnation from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who called the decision “deeply concerning” given the rapper’s “celebration of Nazism.”

As of Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Bailey has not addressed the criticism directly, nor has she removed the posts from her social media highlights. While some fans defended her right to separate the art from the artist, the overwhelming response suggests that for a large portion of her audience, the “legendary” nature of the music cannot be separated from the real-world impact of the man behind it.
