In the court’s view, arguments presented about protecting Kardashian’s privacy and financial matters lacked specificity. The judge described those concerns as overly broad and insufficient to warrant sealing the document from public access.
Despite the broader denial, the court did grant a limited exception. Certain sensitive financial details, including a bank account number referenced in supporting exhibits, will remain confidential.
The dispute traces back to a cross-complaint filed by Ray J in late 2025. In that filing, he alleged that both parties had agreed to avoid discussing their past tape and that Kardashian later violated that understanding. The document containing the alleged settlement was submitted as part of an ongoing defamation case initiated by Kardashian and Jenner.
Ray J further claimed that renewed public discussion of the controversy was used to generate attention for a reality television series in 2021. He argued that this move contradicted the terms of their agreement, which he says required all involved to refrain from revisiting the subject publicly.
Court filings also allege that references appearing in later episodes of the show breached that arrangement.
The case remains unresolved, and no trial date has been scheduled.
