Megan Thee Stallion was rushed to hospital after suddenly falling ill during a live performance of _Moulin Rouge! The Musical_ in New York. The 31-year-old, who recently made her Broadway debut, was performing on March 31 when the show had to be halted mid-performance. According to a statement from her team, “During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated.”
The incident occurred just days after her first appearance in the production, where she plays the role of Zidler, the flamboyant nightclub host. Her casting marked a milestone, as she became the first female-identifying performer to take on the role in any production of the musical.
Audience members reported that the show was paused unexpectedly, with announcements asking them to remain seated as the situation was handled backstage. Megan was then taken to hospital, with no immediate update given on her condition.
Her hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, also confirmed the situation on social media, writing, “Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital.”
Before the incident, Megan had expressed excitement about stepping into the world of theatre, calling it “an absolute honor” and describing it as a new creative challenge. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theatre is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace,” she said ahead of her debut.
