Kelly Rowland recently shared a lighthearted moment about her longtime friend Beyoncé during an appearance on Scott Evans’ YouTube series
_House Guest_.
While participating in a segment where Evans prompted her to sing her favorite love song, he began belting out a line from Beyoncé’s 2011
track “1+1,” singing, “I don’t know much about algebra.” That is when Rowland jumped in with a playful correction.
“It’s algeb’a,” she said with a smile, pointing out that Beyoncé drops the “r” sound in the word. Rowland laughed as she explained that her friend does not pronounce the final letter in the lyric. She added that she loves the unique way Beyoncé sings it and asked Evans if she was right.
Evans repeated the line again, this time adjusting his pronunciation to match Beyoncé’s delivery and leaving out the “r.” He joked that Rowland had completely thrown him off, admitting that there is clearly no “r” in the way Beyoncé sings the word.
Rowland went on to praise “1+1,” calling the ballad beautiful and complimenting Beyoncé’s powerful live performances of the song. She said Beyoncé always delivers an emotional and commanding rendition whenever she performs it.
“1+1” was released in May 2011 as a promotional single from Beyoncé’s album _4_. The song peaked at No. 57 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has since been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for surpassing one million units sold.
Elsewhere in recent interviews, Rowland opened up about her enduring bond with her Destiny’s Child bandmates Beyoncé and Michelle Williams. Speaking on ABC News’ _All Access with Linsey Davis_, she revealed that the trio recently reunited for a special dinner to celebrate Williams’ Grammy nomination.
Rowland shared that the three of them gathered to honor Williams, who received a nomination for Best Musical Theater Album at the 2026 Grammy Awards for her work on the Broadway production _Death Becomes Her_. Williams stars as Viola Van Horn in the show.
According to Rowland, the evening was filled with laughter and heartfelt conversation. She described their connection outside of Destiny’s
Child as deeply meaningful and fulfilling. She said their sisterhood remains strong and expressed gratitude for the lasting friendship they share.
Destiny’s Child most recently reunited on stage for a surprise performance at the final stop of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour in Las Vegas in July 2025.
