Ray J has shared a sobering update about his health, claiming doctors have told him he may not live beyond 2027 after a recent hospitalization for pneumonia and heart complications. The singer and reality TV star, whose real name is William Raymond Norwood Jr., addressed fans directly through a series of social media videos posted after he was rushed to a hospital in Las Vegas earlier this month.
In one video, Ray J appeared visibly shaken as he spoke about his prognosis, stating, "2027 is definitely a wrap for me," before adding that this assessment came directly from medical professionals. When a friend urged him to stay positive, Ray J responded, "That's what the doctor said."
The 45-year-old explained that his heart is currently functioning at only 25 percent capacity, describing the right side of his heart as "done." He acknowledged that years of heavy partying and substance use contributed to his condition, admitting, "I thought I could handle everything, but I couldn't... and it curved my time here." Ray J also claimed he would consume "four or five bottles a day" along with Adderall, saying the lifestyle eventually caught up with him.
Despite the grim outlook, Ray J said he plans to travel to Haiti in the coming weeks in hopes of finding alternative treatment options, suggesting, "They got the cure." The trip comes despite ongoing instability in the country and travel warnings from U.S. authorities.
During the emotional videos, Ray J also spoke about his family and what he hopes to leave behind. Referring to his estranged wife Princess Love and their two children, he said, "My baby mama gonna be straight. My kids gonna be straight... I did my part here." He also made a personal request regarding his final wishes, stating, "Burn me, don't bury me."
Ray J expressed gratitude toward his parents for accompanying him to medical appointments and publicly thanked his sister, Brandy, noting that she "paid my bills for me for the rest of the year." In a later post, his tone appeared slightly more hopeful. While confirming his heart's limited function, he told followers, "As long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be all right."
The singer also revealed that he "almost died" during the recent hospitalization, crediting prayers and public support for his recovery. This is not Ray J's first serious health battle; he was previously hospitalized with severe pneumonia in 2021, a condition that once again resurfaced in his latest medical emergency.
