Zoe Saldana has officially claimed a historic place in Hollywood as the highest grossing actor of all time following the release and success of Avatar Fire and Ash. The milestone further cements her legacy as one of the most bankable and influential performers in modern cinema. With this achievement, Saldana surpasses long standing box office records previously held by some of the biggest names in the industry.
Saldana’s rise to the top is the result of an extraordinary career built around some of the most successful film franchises ever made. She is the only actor to appear in the three highest grossing movies of all time. These include James Cameron’s 2009 epic Avatar, its 2022 sequel Avatar The Way of Water, and Marvel Studios’ Avengers Endgame from 2019. Together, these films reshaped global box office expectations and introduced audiences to immersive cinematic worlds that continue to draw billions in revenue.
In addition to those titles, Saldana also appeared in Avengers Infinity War, making her the first actress to star in four films that each earned more than two billion dollars worldwide. Her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Gamora spanned three Guardians of the Galaxy films and several crossover appearances, further adding to her impressive box office total. Beyond Marvel and Avatar, Saldana played Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek trilogy, which generated more than one billion dollars globally and introduced her to another major fan base.
By 2024, Saldana’s cumulative global box office earnings had surpassed fourteen billion dollars, placing her third behind Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson. However, the release of Avatar Fire and Ash in December pushed her to the number one position. The film has already earned more than one point two billion dollars worldwide, bringing the combined total of films featuring Saldana to approximately fifteen point four seven billion dollars according to industry tallies.
The achievement comes during a remarkable period in Saldana’s career. In 2025, she won the Academy Award for best supporting actress for her performance in Emilia Perez, becoming the first Dominican American to receive an Oscar. The film earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards throughout the season, including honors from Cannes, SAG, BAFTA, the Golden Globes, and Critics Choice. Saldana described the experience as both humbling and motivating, expressing gratitude while emphasizing her desire to keep working and growing as an artist.
In Avatar Fire and Ash, Saldana returns as Neytiri, the fierce Na’vi warrior whose emotional journey remains central to the franchise. The film once again uses advanced performance capture technology developed by James Cameron, allowing actors to focus deeply on emotional connection and storytelling. Saldana has praised the process for giving performers the freedom to fully commit to each moment without distraction.
With Avatar 4 scheduled for release in 2029 and Avatar 5 planned for 2031, Saldana’s record is likely to continue growing. Her career stands as a rare example of artistic consistency and commercial success, proving that longevity, talent, and smart choices can redefine what is possible in Hollywood history.
