Christopher “C.J.” Wallace, the son of late rap legend The Notorious B.I.G., has filed a defamation lawsuit against publicist and music producer Jonathan Hay, pushing back against highly disturbing accusations involving Sean “Diddy” Combs. Wallace’s complaint denies a series of explosive claims Hay made in public interviews, allegations that Wallace helped orchestrate a situation in which Hay was allegedly sexually assaulted by Diddy and that Wallace himself engaged in sexual activity with Combs at so-called “freak-off” parties.
According to Wallace, the accusations from Hay came after a business relationship soured. The two had worked in 2020 on a posthumous remix project titled Ready to Dance, tied to The Notorious B.I.G.’s legacy. Wallace asserts that although one song was released, the rest of the project was shelved due to creative differences, weak reception and Hay’s erratic behavior.
Wallace says that soon after walking away from the project, Hay’s tone changed completely. He claims that Hay threatened to release the unreleased tracks without consent from the Biggie estate, prompting Wallace to issue a cease-and-desist notice. According to Wallace, nothing publicly at that time indicated any claim of sexual misconduct, Hay allegedly only began making those serious accusations years later, after the business relationship had broken down.
In an October 2024 YouTube interview, Hay allegedly went on to claim that Wallace and his associate, Willie Mack, “lured” him to a location where Combs was waiting and that he was sexually assaulted there. He also accused Wallace of witnessing or actively participating in “freak-off” parties with Combs and even asserted a romantic relationship between Wallace and Mack.
Wallace strongly denies all of these allegations, calling them completely fabricated. In his lawsuit, he states that Hay acted with “actual malice”, that is, knowingly publishing false statements or doing so with reckless disregard for their truth. Because of Hay’s claims, Wallace says he has suffered reputational harm, lost professional opportunities and endured humiliation and emotional distress.
He is seeking both compensatory and punitive damages. Wallace’s legal team characterizes Hay’s statements as a deliberate smear campaign, not a legitimate whistle-blowing effort. Meanwhile, Hay has made similar claims against Diddy in other legal proceedings but Wallace’s suit targets Hay’s public recounting of his own story and its impact on Wallace.
