Kim Kardashian is breaking her silence on the emotional toll of her marriage to Kanye West.
Appearing on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast on October 15, the 44-year-old SKIMS founder reflected on her past relationship with the rapper, calling parts of it "toxic" and admitting she stayed longer than she should have.
"I do have a problem of only remembering the good," Kim confessed. "I'm a really forgiving person, but I haven't dated like that since I've been divorced. When you get older, you just don't tolerate that kind of s---. You don't have time."
Kim and Kanye married in 2014 and share four children; North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6. Their divorce was finalized in 2022 after years of public tension and Kanye's well-documented mental health struggles.
"When someone has their first mental break, you want to be supportive," she said. "But when they're not willing to make changes that could be healthy, it becomes really hard to stay."
Kim revealed that the hardest part of leaving was the impact on her family. "When you have kids, it's harder to leave than to stay," she said. "But once my mental health started to be affected, I couldn't parent the way I needed to. I had to save myself in order to be a better mom."
Despite their strained relationship, Kim insisted she has never blocked Kanye from seeing their children, even though "he hasn't reached out in months."
Asked what the final straw was, she recalled: "There were things I couldn't accept — talking bad about my kids' grandmother and aunts, airing out personal stuff. If someone feels that way, we shouldn't be together."
Still, Kim holds no resentment. "An over-a-decade relationship with four beautiful children is not a failure," she said. "When everyone's older, they'll understand that walking away was about protecting peace, not ending love."
Even her daughter North has encouraged her to find love again. "She tells me, 'Mom, you need to get remarried!'" Kim laughed. "I guess she's ready for my next chapter."
