Taylor Swift has set the record straight about rumors that she declined an offer to headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show in California. Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the pop superstar laughed off reports of a supposed dispute over ownership of performance footage, confirming that no official offer had been made.
“There was never an official offer or a conference room conversation,” Swift explained. “Our teams are close, and sometimes they just call to ask how I feel about it in general.” She praised Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation company produces the halftime show, noting that he has “always been very good to me.”
Fans had been abuzz with speculation that Swift would take the stage after the release of her new album The Life of a Showgirl. However, in
September, organizers confirmed that Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny would headline the 2026 show.
Despite the missed opportunity, Swift’s name remains intertwined with American football, largely thanks to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce. The singer has often been seen cheering from the stands as Kelce and his team made repeated Super Bowl appearances, including their 2024 victory.
Swift explained that while she loves the event, balancing her career with Kelce’s demanding schedule would be challenging. “Can you imagine if he’s out there doing this very high-pressure sport and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreography should be?’” she joked.
The Grammy winner insisted that her decision had nothing to do with her fiancé, saying, “He would love for me to do it. I’m just too locked in.”
For now, fans will have to wait to see if Swift eventually graces the Super Bowl stage.
