As he prepares to launch his highly anticipated Make America Slime Again Tour, NBA YoungBoy has chosen to give back to the community in a meaningful way. Just days before stepping on stage in Dallas, the Baton Rouge born rapper donated $50,000 to two local nonprofits, a gesture that has drawn widespread praise.
Half of the contribution, $25,000, went to Manifest Freedom, an organization founded by attorney Brittany K. Barnett. The nonprofit supports individuals impacted by incarceration, providing resources to help them rebuild their lives and pursue entrepreneurship. Its mission aligns with YoungBoy’s desire to create opportunities for people who often face barriers after leaving prison. Among those touched by the program are the Sotelo Brothers, Fort Worth natives who received clemency and now operate a thriving family business.
The other $25,000 was directed to Urban Specialists, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing gang violence, mentoring young people and training leaders to build stronger, safer neighborhoods. The organization’s work in Dallas and beyond reflects a vision of peace and change, values YoungBoy has increasingly spoken about in recent years.
Explaining the donation, YoungBoy expressed his motivation simply: he wants to play a role in curbing crime and helping people live better lives. “A lot of people be getting hurt, so it ain’t really cool at this point to me. I just want to help in any way I can,” he said. For him, the gesture wasn’t just about writing a check but about sending a message to the communities that look up to him.
Community leaders welcomed the contribution, noting that the involvement of high profile figures like YoungBoy can inspire young people who often see themselves reflected in his story. They emphasized that his support goes beyond money, it gives credibility to the work already being done on the ground.
The donation comes as YoungBoy launches his 45 city tour, which kicks off with two sold out shows in Dallas. Running through the fall, the tour will stop in major cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Brooklyn, Detroit and will conclude in Seattle this November. By tying the start of his tour to a philanthropic effort, NBA YoungBoy is making it clear that his influence extends beyond music. His decision to invest in grassroots organizations reflects a growing commitment to using his platform for change, reminding fans that success means little if it doesn’t give back.
