Tracee Ellis Ross recently opened up about her friendship with former President Barack Obama, revealing a moment when she felt he let her down.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on August 14, the 52-year-old actress recalled how she once ran into Obama shortly after a breakup. According to Ross, the former president admitted that he had already suspected the relationship would not work out.

"I broke up with someone, and I remember seeing him," Ross told guest host Nicole Byer. "He said, 'I could have told you that.' And I was like, 'Well, you failed as a friend. That was your job to say beforehand!'"

Despite her playful criticism, Ross explained that she often turns to both Barack and Michelle Obama for dating advice. However, one request she has yet to make is asking the couple to set her up with a potential partner. "I've never asked Michelle to set me up, which is probably silly. I should get on that," she joked.

Ross, who has spoken openly about choosing to live life on her own terms, explained that she prefers meeting people "in the wild" rather than through dating apps, which she described as feeling like "shopping for a partner."

The black-ish star also shared one of her more awkward dating experiences. She described sitting down with a man who immediately propped his phone against a glass to watch a basketball game during their date. "He actually put his hand up as if to say, 'Don't interrupt me,'" Ross said. She admitted she quickly texted friends to arrange her exit, adding that the evening ended after just one drink.

Her candid reflections added humor and warmth to the interview, highlighting the balance Ross maintains between her independence and her search for meaningful connection.
