Los Angeles, June 6, 2025 — Rapper and YouTuber DDG has filed an emergency motion in a Los Angeles court seeking to prevent actress and singer Halle Bailey from taking their 1-year-old son, Halo, out of the country. The filing comes amid an intensifying legal dispute between the former couple, who have been locked in a bitter custody battle since their breakup in 2024.

According to court documents, DDG — whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. — claims Bailey poses a risk to their son’s emotional and psychological safety. He alleges that she has made troubling threats of self-harm and erratic behavior that could endanger the child. One incident cited in the filing recounts a moment during Bailey’s pregnancy when she allegedly fled their home with his firearm, appearing “incoherent” and “potentially suicidal.”

DDG argues that allowing Bailey to travel internationally with their son would place Halo beyond the protection of U.S. courts, limiting his ability to intervene in the event of a crisis. The emergency motion specifically aims to block a planned trip to Italy, where Bailey is reportedly scheduled to travel with the child.

The motion follows a series of legal moves by both parties. In May, Bailey was granted temporary sole physical and legal custody of Halo, along with a restraining order against DDG. That order accused him of verbal and physical abuse, including an incident in January 2024 in which she claimed he chipped her tooth and left visible bruises. The restraining order has since expired, but the legal conflict is far from over.

Bailey, for her part, has denied DDG’s claims and has also petitioned the court to restrict his visitation rights. She has requested that any interaction between DDG and their son be supervised and take place within Los Angeles County. She has also asked the court to prevent him from acquiring travel documents for Halo without her consent.

Despite DDG’s emergency motion, a judge has already denied his initial request to block Bailey’s international travel plans, allowing her to proceed with the Italy trip. However, further hearings are expected, as DDG also seeks a new domestic violence restraining order and full custody of Halo.

The couple’s relationship began in 2022 and ended in October 2024, a few months after the birth of their son on December 22, 2023. Since their separation, public and legal documents have detailed a deeply troubled relationship marked by mutual accusations of emotional abuse and instability.
