RnB singer, Kehlani took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post on her 30 th birthday. The Grammy nominated singer also reveals her struggles with BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and bipolar disorder. “I never saw myself making it up to 30 growing up. 1 in 10 BPD diagnosed people die at their own hands. 7 in 10 make an attempt. I’ve had a crazy life… but the last year changed my world. Accountability, commitment, growth and change,” the singer wrote.

Kehlani went ahead to write that after having a diagnosis , medication, routine, discipline, sobriety, God, solitude and commitment changed her life. She claims she is so much better now compared to her old self and worthy of love and great things. She states that nothing is in the way of her peace, her blessing and my relationship with God.

Kehlani also outlined goals and strategies she is carrying into her 30s including privacy is luxury, patterns only break when you actually want them to, you cannot save anyone. Don’t intercept their journey. Assist, don’t save. “ Make sure the healing work you’re doing or healing path you’re taking is only making you better and closer to God. Anything supplemental, escapist or regressive isn’t the work. Check in with yourself (often) on if you’re genuinely becoming kinder, clearer, more grounded & focused,” she continued.

She claims that the body is one’s most precious gift and anything that doesn’t feel good for it is something to quit. She gives an example of food, vices, habits and people. She went ahead to suggest that real solid love comes from time, effort and a foundation of friendship. “Experiences are worth more than material items. Create them for yourself, your family, your friends and your love,” she wrote.

Her post was accompanied by a childhood photo and Steve Wonder’s “Ribbon in the sky.” Her birthday post with close to 600,000 likes, had her peers supporting her and expressing their love for her. This includes Gorilla, Craig David, Macklemore, G-eazy and chance the rapper among many others.
