Reflecting on his win, Antonelli said: “The pace was strong. I was able to stay close. The team did a great strategy. We did a massive undercut and we managed to bring it home, even though it was not easy.”
Norris crossed the line 3.264 seconds behind in second place, admitting: “We just got undercut - no excuses other than that… Kimi did a good job.”
He added, “I’m gutted to miss out on a win here in Miami… But it’s still a positive weekend altogether.”
Oscar Piastri secured third, completing a double podium for McLaren after overtaking Leclerc in the closing laps. Leclerc’s race unravelled late on after a spin and contact with the barrier, allowing George Russell to take fourth and Verstappen to recover to fifth.
Antonelli’s victory not only extended his championship lead to 20 points, but also marked a historic milestone, making him the first driver to convert his first three pole positions into wins. He also becomes just the third driver to win his first three Grands Prix consecutively.
“This is just the beginning. The road is still long,” Antonelli said. “We are working super hard… I’m going to enjoy this one then get back to work.”
Further down the order, Lewis Hamilton finished seventh, while Franco Colapinto, Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon rounded out the top ten.
