In a surprising twist to a developing legal drama involving NBA star Zion Williamson, renowned attorney Tony Buzbee has reportedly declined to represent adult film actress Moriah Mills in a potential case against the New Orleans Pelicans player. The news broke earlier this week following speculation that Mills was preparing to take legal action against Williamson, whom she claims emotionally manipulated and threatened her over
the course of their reported five-year relationship.

Tony Buzbee, best known for representing the 24 women who filed lawsuits against NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson, confirmed in a public statement that he would not be taking on Mills’ case. “We can’t help them all,” Buzbee told reporters, alluding to his demanding caseload and the sensitivity of the legal matters he’s already committed to.

Moriah Mills, a former adult film star and social media personality, has been vocally critical of Williamson on social media since mid-2023, when news surfaced of Williamson expecting a child with another woman. Mills alleged that during their relationship, she was subjected to emotional distress, public humiliation, and attempts to silence her through intimidation. She also claimed that the NBA star used his fame to manipulate and control her, despite her repeated requests to be treated with respect and discretion.

Despite the highly public nature of Mills’ accusations, Buzbee’s decision not to get involved raises questions about the legal viability of her claims—or at least her ability to get traction in the courts. Legal experts suggest that Mills may face an uphill battle without strong documentation or corroborative evidence to support her allegations.

Still, Mills responded to Buzbee’s rejection on social media, expressing disappointment but asserting that she was not deterred. “Just because one door closes doesn’t mean I’ll stop fighting,” she wrote in a now-deleted post on X. “I’ve been through too much to be silenced now.”

Williamson’s legal team, meanwhile, has denied all wrongdoing. In a statement released through his attorney, the basketball star called the claims “baseless and harmful,” and emphasized that his focus remains on his professional career and his growing family. Notably, Williamson is already facing a separate civil lawsuit from another woman who alleges that he raped and emotionally abused her over a span of several years. That case is currently in its early stages.

Some analysts believe Buzbee’s refusal to represent Mills could be a strategic move. “He’s very deliberate in choosing cases with legal merit and potential for a meaningful outcome,” said legal analyst Kendra Smith. “It doesn’t mean Mills has no case—it may mean it’s not strong enough for someone of Buzbee’s profile to take on.”
