Jamie Foxx has opened up about the critical role his daughter, Corinne Foxx, played during his 2023 stroke, saying a doctor later told him he may not have survived without her.

The actor, 58, discussed the experience while appearing with Corinne, 32, on Keke Palmer's Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast on Aug. 25. Foxx recalled speaking with one of the doctors who treated him after he was hospitalized in Atlanta.

"I wanted to know his version," Foxx said. "He says, 'Hey man, without her you wouldn't be here.'"

According to Foxx, the doctor went further, telling him, "Man, your daughter saved your life" and that Corinne was "the reason that you're here."

Foxx compared his daughter's response to his medical emergency to Michael Corleone taking charge after his father is shot in The Godfather. The comparison earned Corinne the nickname "Michael Corleone" from her father.

"That's who she was," Foxx said.

Foxx was hospitalized in April 2023 after suffering a medical emergency. He later revealed that a brain bleed had led to a stroke. Much of what happened during the crisis remains unclear to him, but he has previously spoken about the difficult recovery that followed.

Corinne, meanwhile, recalled immediately shifting into caretaker mode when her father became ill.

"When you're in it, you don't have time to be scared," she said. "You're just in caretaking mode."

The situation was made more difficult by intense online speculation about Foxx's health while he was hospitalized. Corinne said she was particularly disturbed by conspiracy theories, including claims that her father had been cloned.

"I had never been on the bad side of the internet," she said, describing the experience as "scary."

Despite the speculation, Corinne said she did not believe it was her place to reveal her father's private medical information.

"But it also was not my place to ever release his medical information," she said. "They can say whatever they want as long as he's good."

Foxx has also recalled returning to the hospital after his recovery to meet some of the nurses who cared for him. He said they described him as a "miracle" and told him that very few patients with his condition left the hospital.

Reflecting on Corinne's role, Foxx said the experience changed how he viewed his daughter and the strength she showed during the crisis.
