Law Roach is opening up about his long-running decision to keep certain luxury fashion houses away from Zendaya's red carpet wardrobe.

The celebrity stylist discussed the issue during an Aug. 16 appearance on Ziwe Fumudoh's You'd Be an Iconic Guest podcast. Ziwe brought up Roach's unofficial boycott of Saint Laurent, Dior, Valentino, Chanel and Gucci, saying the brands had previously declined to dress Zendaya early in her career.

Roach acknowledged that his feelings toward the fashion houses have changed over time.

"I think that there is an importance of being petty, but I've outgrown my pettiness," he said. "I think that holding grudges makes you ugly, so in my quest to become more beautiful, I've released some of the grudges that I held."

He also pointed out that he was wearing Saint Laurent during the interview, suggesting that his personal stance toward the brands is no longer as firm as it once was.

However, when Ziwe asked whether Zendaya would also be wearing the designers he had previously avoided, Roach gave a clear answer: "No."

Roach previously explained the origins of the decision during a 2024 appearance on the Cutting Room Floor podcast. He said that when he began working with Zendaya, who was 14 at the time, he approached several major fashion houses about dressing her but was repeatedly rejected.

"I would write [to] the big five...and they would all say no," he recalled, saying the responses included, "Try again next year," and "she's too green."

According to Roach, those early experiences influenced his decision to keep the brands away from Zendaya's red carpet appearances even after she became one of Hollywood's most prominent style figures.

He previously said Zendaya had worn pieces from some of the brands for editorial shoots but not for public appearances. Valentino was an exception after the actress entered into a contract with the fashion house.

Roach and Zendaya have since developed one of the fashion industry's most recognizable creative partnerships. Their red carpet collaborations have included themed looks inspired by projects such as The Drama, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey.

Describing their relationship, Roach said the pair have become "one soul sharing two bodies."
