Rapper Ice-T and his wife Coco Austin have shared insight into how they are raising their daughter Chanel, focusing on manners, humility and emotional grounding despite growing up in a celebrity household.
Speaking on a recent podcast appearance, Coco explained that her priority is to raise a respectful and kind child rather than one shaped by fame. She said she regularly reminds Chanel that her behaviour reflects not only herself but also her family.
Both parents emphasised the importance of teaching basic respect for others. Coco noted that she encourages her daughter to treat people well, avoid entitlement and understand the value of good behaviour in everyday interactions.
Ice-T added that he teaches Chanel to approach everyone equally, without judgment, and to remain open-minded when meeting new people. He stressed the importance of humility regardless of background or status.
Despite their public careers, the couple said their daughter does not fully grasp the concept of fame. They explained that Chanel often sees herself as an ordinary child, which they consider a positive part of her upbringing.
Coco admitted that while Chanel is aware she is known by others, she does not fully understand the global attention surrounding her family. The parents said they try to balance normal childhood experiences with public life.
They also highlighted that discipline in their household is centred around communication rather than pressure. Conversations about behaviour and respect are frequent, with repeated reminders about how actions are perceived by others.
The couple concluded that their goal is to raise a well-rounded individual who remains grounded despite external attention. For them, parenting in the spotlight is less about fame management and more about ensuring their daughter grows up with strong values and emotional awareness.
