Lizzo has shut down online claims suggesting she criticized Taylor Swift, making it clear that she has never spoken negatively about the pop star or any other artist.

The discussion started on May 23 when an X user posted a message comparing streaming numbers linked to recent music projects while sharing a clip from Lizzo's "STFU" music video. The post referenced both Swift's latest album and Lizzo's 2025 mixtape, sparking conversation among users online.

Lizzo later reshared the post and admitted she was confused by the comments, asking followers to explain what the original message meant.

One user responded by claiming the situation was connected to alleged comments Lizzo had made about Swift in the past. The person suggested that criticism directed at Taylor had finally caught up with her.

Lizzo quickly responded and firmly denied the accusation.

"Are you well?" she wrote on X. "First of all, I have never talked bad about Taylor Swift. Also while we're on the subject, I've never talked badly about any artist."

She continued by explaining that simply mentioning another performer does not automatically mean criticism is being directed at them.

"Just because I mention an artist by name does not mean I'm talking bad about them. Grow up," she added.

The response comes shortly after Lizzo publicly praised Swift while discussing her latest single, "Bitch," during an appearance on Genius Verified earlier this month.

During the interview, Lizzo spoke about drawing inspiration from Meredith Brooks and her 1997 hit of the same name. She explained that she wanted to properly acknowledge Brooks because she did not want the original inspiration behind the track to be overlooked.

While discussing her own interpretation of the song, Lizzo playfully referenced Swift's well-known re-recording projects by joking that her release could be viewed as "Lizzo's Version."

This is not the first time Lizzo has brought up Swift in a positive context. In previous interviews, she has also compared aspects of their songwriting styles, particularly the way both artists draw from personal experiences and relationships in their music.

Lizzo's upcoming project, Bitch, is scheduled for release on June 5 as she continues preparing for the next chapter of her musical career.
