Kevin Hart was officially crowned the "GROAT" during a star-studded roast, receiving a custom-made ring presented in a memorable on-stage moment that quickly became one of the night's biggest highlights.
On Sunday, May 10, tennis legends Serena Williams and Venus Williams took the stage at Netflix's The Roast of Kevin Hart to honor the comedian, 46, with a special award recognizing him as the Greatest Roastee of All Time. The gesture was both playful and celebratory, fitting the tone of the evening filled with jokes, tributes, and surprise appearances.
Venus Williams addressed Hart warmly, saying the family had nothing but love for him, while Serena added a joke referencing tennis scoring, pointing out that in tennis, love means nothing. The lighthearted exchange set up the moment for the big reveal as Venus introduced a jewelry box containing the prize.
She then announced that Hart would be receiving the coveted GROAT ring, a custom piece designed to mark the occasion. The ring, created by Jason of Beverly Hills, was valued at around $40,000 and featured more than 400 white diamonds. It also included rubies, yellow sapphires, and black diamonds, making it a highly detailed and symbolic piece of craftsmanship.
As Hart walked on stage to accept the honor, he examined the ring in amazement while the audience reacted to its design. Serena added a joking remark that if he did not want it, he could easily pawn it nearby, keeping the comedic tone of the night alive.
Jeweler Jason Arasheben later said in a statement that it was an honor to be part of the cultural moment. He explained that his work often focuses on celebrating achievement, and he considered this project a fitting tribute to one of comedy's most recognizable figures.
The roast itself also featured several unexpected moments, including an appearance by comedian Katt Williams. His presence marked a notable moment in his long-running and sometimes tense history with Hart. Williams joked about being surprised to be invited and humorously questioned Hart's status as a "GOAT," adding to the night's sharp comedic exchanges.
Throughout the event, Hart took part in the jokes and acknowledged the title with humor and gratitude, as the evening blended celebration, satire, and reconciliation in front of a live audience.
