Tina Knowles has opened up about the emotional moment she watched her daughter Beyoncé and granddaughter Blue Ivy Carter walk the 2026 Met Gala carpet together, admitting it brought back powerful memories.

Speaking a day after the event, Knowles told NBC's TODAY show that the moment hit her deeply. "I got really emotional, shed a few tears," she said, reflecting on Blue Ivy's appearance at the annual fashion event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

For her, it wasn't just about the moment itself, but what it represented. She drew a direct comparison to Beyoncé's early career, saying, "It was kind of reminiscent, because Beyoncé started her first red carpet at 15, and Blue is 14."

Seeing her granddaughter step into that same spotlight felt familiar. "Just seeing her out there looking confident and beautiful... it was déjà vu."

Blue Ivy, who attended alongside her parents Beyoncé and Jay-Z, became one of the youngest people to appear at the Met Gala, which has an 18-and-over rule for attendees. Her presence was made possible as she accompanied her mother, who served as one of the event's co-chairs.

On the night, Blue Ivy wore a strapless Balenciaga gown styled with a matching jacket and accessories, while Beyoncé made a return to the Met Gala after a decade away in a crystal-covered, skeleton-inspired look designed by Olivier Rousteing.

Beyoncé also spoke about sharing the experience with her daughter, saying, "It feels surreal, because my daughter is here. I am excited to experience it through her eyes." She added, "She looks so beautiful... She was ready! She is ready."
