Cardi B has never shied away from being candid, and her recent appearance in a Los Angeles courtroom was no exception. The Grammy-winning rapper, whose lyrics often boast about confidence and boldness, carried that same energy into her testimony during a civil trial this week. The case stems from an alleged 2018 incident in which Emani Ellis, a former building security guard, accused Cardi B of assault. The artist, who was pregnant at the time of the encounter, has firmly denied the allegations.

Ellis claims that she suffered a scratch on her face during the altercation and is seeking punitive damages as well as medical expenses. Cardi B, however, insists there was no physical contact. "She couldn't get a scratch from me because I didn't touch her," Cardi testified. The exchange, streamed live by Court TV, has captured widespread public attention, with fans highlighting the rapper's wit, humor, and sharp responses under cross-examination.

In one memorable moment, when asked to recall her words during the confrontation, Cardi B admitted she used profanity but questioned why Ellis had been recording her instead of performing her security duties. When asked to repeat her words directly to Ellis, Cardi raised eyebrows by responding, "You want me to say it to her face?"—a request the judge quickly dismissed.

Her sense of humor also surfaced when Ellis's attorney asked about her changing hairstyles, probing whether her hair at the time of the alleged incident was "real." Cardi B laughed, replying, "They're wigs," which drew chuckles in the courtroom, even from the lawyer who admitted the wig looked convincing.

At one point, the rapper showed frustration with the questioning. When asked whether she had been angry during the exchange, Cardi B said she was more concerned than furious. "Because I'm pregnant and this girl is about to f*ing beat my a," she said bluntly, adding, "Hello?"

Despite the tension of the proceedings, Cardi B has maintained that her words may have been sharp, but her actions were not violent. The case, which has been ongoing for seven years, continues to unfold with the artist's testimony drawing as much attention as her chart-topping hits. For fans, it is simply Cardi B being unapologetically herself—unfiltered, witty, and unafraid to face scrutiny head-on.
