Rapper and singer Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, is facing serious legal trouble after a dramatic incident in Los Angeles led to his arrest. On August 21, he was found wandering Ventura Boulevard wearing only underwear and cowboy boots. When police approached, he allegedly charged at the officers, resulting in his arrest and a brief hospitalization before being booked into custody.
Days later, prosecutors upgraded the case, charging the star with four felonies: three counts of battery with injury to a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment, was released on $75,000 bail, and was ordered to attend weekly Narcotics Anonymous meetings as part of his release conditions.
Shortly after regaining his freedom, Lil Nas X broke his silence in an emotional video shared to Instagram. He told fans, “Your girl is going to be okay,” while admitting the past few days had been “terrifying.” His comments struck a balance between reassurance and vulnerability, leaving fans both comforted and deeply concerned.
His father, Robert Stafford, spoke publicly in defense of his son, calling the incident shocking and out of character. He insisted that the rapper was mentally stable and remorseful. Lil Nas X’s attorney, Christy O’Connor, described the episode as “an aberration in his life” and stressed that the behavior should not define him. Both pushed back against speculation that drugs played a role in the encounter, framing it instead as a troubling but isolated lapse.
If convicted on all counts, the Grammy-winning artist could face more than 10 years in state prison, as each felony carries a potential multi-year sentence. His next court appearance is scheduled for mid-September, where prosecutors are expected to present additional evidence.
