In a major legal win for Sean “Diddy” Combs, a judge has dismissed all 22 counts in a lawsuit brought against him by Sara Rivers, who had accused the music mogul of racketeering, harassment, and other serious offenses. The decision, handed down earlier this week, effectively ends the case at the trial court level, though Rivers’ legal team has already announced plans to appeal.
Rivers had filed the suit late last year, claiming that Diddy engaged in a pattern of unlawful behavior that amounted to racketeering, along with multiple allegations of harassment, intimidation and infliction of emotional distress. The complaint detailed incidents that she alleged spanned several years, painting a picture of a hostile and dangerous environment that she claimed was orchestrated or enabled by Combs and his associates.
In a lengthy written ruling, the judge concluded that the claims failed to meet the legal standards required for racketeering and other charges. The court found that Rivers’ pleadings were either too vague, lacked sufficient factual detail, or failed to establish a direct link between Diddy’s alleged actions and the harms she described. Additionally, several counts were dismissed on procedural grounds, with the court noting that certain claims were either time-barred or outside its jurisdiction.
Despite the sweeping dismissal, Rivers’ attorney, Marcus Hall, made it clear that the fight is far from over. “We strongly disagree with the court’s decision and believe the judge misapplied the law in several key areas,” Hall said in a statement. “Ms. Rivers has compelling evidence and credible testimony to support her claims, and we intend to take this matter to the appellate court. This is not the end—it’s only the next chapter.”
For Diddy, who has faced a growing number of lawsuits and public scrutiny over the past year, the ruling represents a rare piece of positive legal news. His representatives have consistently denied Rivers’ allegations, calling them “baseless, sensationalized, and motivated by financial gain.”
