Tyrese Haliburton's engagement to Jade Jones, his college sweetheart, is going the old school route. After all, they attended Illinois State University together, and it was there that the Indiana Pacers player proposed.
Tyrese proposed to his six-year girlfriend on July 28 at the Hilton Coliseum's basketball court, as seen in pictures and a video posted on Instagram. Tyrese gave her a huge ring set with oval-cut diamonds.
"The place where our story started," the NBA player captioned the photo, "and where our next chapter begins."
In the comments section, Jade added, "Future Mrs. "What the Hali?"
Other athletes agreed that Tyrese's romantic gesture was obvious, with WNBA player Caitlin Clark writing, "WEDDING TIMEEEEE." I adore you all.
Jalen Smith of the Chicago Bulls joked, "Ohhhhhhh s--tttt, it's about time," and Buddy Hield of the Golden State Warriors added, "Congratulations, my dawg."
Tyrese will miss the entire 2025–2026 NBA season in order to recuperate from a torn Achilles tendon following surgery in June, so he might have some free time at home in the upcoming months to concentrate on wedding preparations.
Tyrese wrote, "At 25, I've already learned that God never gives us more than we can handle," as the caption for a picture he posted on Instagram last month after being admitted to the hospital. "I'm confident that I'll emerge from this a better man and a better player."
He went on, "I've pushed myself daily to be the best; my journey to where I am now wasn't by accident. And I'll keep doing just that."
Tyrese stated that even though missing a whole season "sucks," he is still "grateful for every single experience" he has had thus far in his career.
