Beyoncé's youngest daughter Rumi Carter made her concert debut on Monday night, joining her mother and older sister Blue Ivy on stage during the opening night of the Cowboy Carter Tour in Los Angeles.
The 7-year-old Rumi made a rare public appearance during "Protector," the same song that features her voice on the album asking, "Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?" Dressed in a stunning gold sparkly feather dress with matching cowboy boots, Rumi beamed with excitement as she waved to the crowd and embraced her mother.
"She could be seen hugging her mom, 43, during the opening lyrics of the song and then walking with her onstage during the chorus," noted photographer Julian Dakdouk, who captured the heartwarming moment.
Blue Ivy, 13, who has become a regular performer with her mother, danced behind them in a sparkly gray ensemble that matched Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter-themed bodysuit and chaps. The teenager, who now towers over both her mother and sister, could be seen enveloping them in embraces during certain moments of the performance.
The family moment highlighted Beyoncé's commitment to balancing her career with family life. "I try to only tour when my kids are out of school," Beyoncé told GQ in October 2024. "I always dreamt of a life where I could see the world with my family and expose them to different languages, architecture and lifestyles."
Blue Ivy first appeared as a backup dancer during the Renaissance World Tour in 2023 when she was just 11 years old. She has since performed at several of her mother's shows, including the 2024 NFL Christmas halftime show.
The Los Angeles concert marked the beginning of a 32-show stadium tour spanning nine cities across the U.S. and Europe, with the finale scheduled for Las Vegas on July 26. The tour follows Beyoncé's Grammy wins for best country album and album of the year for "Cowboy Carter."
"It's been 25 years of just working really hard and trying my best to keep growing and keep opening up doors," Beyoncé said during her Grammy acceptance speech, adding that she was "very honored" and "happy" that Blue Ivy was present to witness her win.
The Cowboy Carter album, released in March 2024, represents the second part of a three-act project that began with "Renaissance" in 2022. The country album has broken multiple records and deliberately featured both country legends and emerging Black country artists.
Beyoncé shares Blue Ivy, Rumi, and son Sir, 7, with her husband Jay-Z. As she noted in her GQ interview, she has worked "extremely hard" to ensure her children "have as much normalcy and privacy as possible."
